I'm pissed off and I'm a libertarian. What else you wanna know?

Farewell to a Favorite Blog - Thanks, Leftist Nazis!

One of my favorite blogs, which I read mostly via RSS, is shutting down. Why? Not because the blogger (Becky C) can't do it it anymore, but because the leftist losers think the First Amendment only applies to "approved" speech.

In other words, this libertarian lesbian named Becky only qualifies because she's a girl and she's gay, but because she's not a socialist hate-monger like the "approved" left, she's out.

They've managed to harass her blog into oblivion, getting Google (who owns Blogger.com) to put an "objectionable content" warning on her blog, which effectively bars it from search engines and makes some people balk about entering the blog to read.

So she's been shut down by Web Nazis who probably believe they're "doing the right thing" by doing it. Brainwashed heathens that they are, they can't fathom the idea of a lesbian being libertarian instead of an Obamabot like they are.

So farewell, Becky C, and I'll miss your ramblings on Girl in Short Shorts. While I wasn't there for the whole three years, I was there long enough to enjoy your wit and commentary.

Yet another freedom fighter shot down by the morons-that-be.

It's a shame the LNs get to hide behind their anonymity while they strike against freedom. I'd like to see them outed.

Ya. Well, that and some moron in the GOP telling me how they're "turning it around" really peeved me today, so I wrote a rant. That's publishing in about two hours here.

I need to cool off and re-read it first. :)

It's not that hard to get your own, for-pay, blog. She's just discovered one of the drawbacks of using Google's free service. If she really cared about her message, she could easily ignore the detractors, and pay $5 or $10 a month for a place they can't so easily censor.

    Google's property. Google's rules.

    Your property. Your rules.

I guess if you want to totally ignore the issue at hand and just say "well, it's all her fault for not doing X" then I guess you're right.

I have both self-owned and Google blogs (this being one of the latter) and can say that there are big differences.

First, a self-owned blog isn't "cheap." Sure, it might cost you only $8/month to host it, but you also spend hours setting it up and figuring out what's wrong with it when it decides to stop working. If it's a non-profit thing, that can get real expensive (and old) real fast.

Most hosts cover only the hosting itself and not any of the software (like WordPress) with their customer service.

Here on Blogger, it takes three minutes to set up a blog and start posting. In seven years on Blogger, I have yet to have my blog go down for anything.

Blaming Becky's website being "red flagged" on the left is making too big of an assumption. It could have been from either the left or the right (possibly both, depending on how many people complained to Blogger). Both parties have people who are pro-censorship, especially when it comes to protecting kids (AKA their "precious snowflakes") from the "evils" of sex.

Now the timing of it happening after a Democrat became President and a GOPer was previous is a little interesting, but that doesn't come remotely close to proving anything.
